Well Visit Check Up

Ryan visited a new doctor since we recently moved. He went in for his 2 1/2 year check up. Every other time we've brought him in to see a doctor he has screemed his head off. He hates the paper on the table and he hates getting undressed. This time we came with back ups: his new doll and his blankie! Trying to weigh him and measure him was a very tough feat. He screamed so we got out the blankie. Then the doctor came in and for a while we just talked. Ry was ok as long as he was glued to us. The doctor then proceeded to do everything to the doll first and thus Ry happily agreed to his doctor checking him since he checked "baby" first. All in all it ended up being a successful visit. Ry even gave Dr. Romberger a high five on the way out!

Ry's 2 1/2 year stats:
37 1/2 inches
32lbs

AJ

AJ is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was down a few houses. Thanks to my wonderful neighbor he is back home with us. He is skinny but otherwise just fine!

The recent video of Ryan and AJ is very special to us. As of last night AJ is missing. We are very sad as AJ has been with us for about 8 years from a Florida shelter, to swealtering NC, and then here to Pittsburgh. He's lived in 3 states with us, 6 different homes, and seen us welcome Ryan into the world.

If you could say a little prayer, or speak a little speak, that wherever AJ is that he is pain free and will return to us.

Ryan & AJ

Those of you who know our cat AJ know he doesn't let Ryan get close. The only exception is when he's hungry! So when I saw this happen, I had to catch it on video.

New Pics

We've been busy as summer has come to an end and work has picked back up for us. It was a great summer!

Ryan's Haircut

Most of you know what terrible experiences we've had taking Ry to get his haircut. Everywhere we go he has a screaming fit, get's a sub par haircut, and we have to find a different place each time. I heard about this place in Cranberry called, http://www.sharkeyscutsforkids.com/. Despite the 45 minute drive we figured it was worth a try. The appeal of the chairs, movies, and trained staff peaked our interest. We showed Ry the pictures online and talked about it all day. He kept saying no. We drove in terrible traffic, but finally got there 55 minutes later. Once we got inside he seemed a little hesitant, but not too bad. He saw the fish tank and was happy about that. He chose to sit in the big jet (like Little Einsteins). He tried to get out, but Trav sat next to him on a stool, and he remained seated. (Keep in mind, he's never sat by himself for a haircut. He's always sat on my lap.) The lady let him choose a DVD. He chose Little Einsteins. He sat there really well watching the DVD, pushing the buttons on the jet, watching the fish, and looking at the other boy who was getting his hair cut in the jeep next to him. The lady who cut his hair was amazing. She knew all the right things to do for a kid, none of which we've seen at any other hair place. So despite the $19.99 pre-tip bill and 45 minute drive, we will definately be heading back. Enjoy the pics and videos!

More Family Visits!

We were so delighted to have my brother Chris, his wife Mindi, and their 2 girls, Kayla and Leah come visit us for a few days. Kayla and Ryan are only a few months apart and seemed to have fun with each other. While Leah is still a baby, Ryan was infatuated with her and her walker! We went to the park, played in our backyard, went to the Children's Museum, took the incline up the mountain, went on a mini tour of the city, and even had fun at our neighborhood's block party! We were sad to see them leave but look forward to October where we will meet in Chicago!

Our Visit to the Jersey Shore!

We recently took a wonderful vacation to Wildwood, NJ. We had a wonderful time and saw lots of friends and family. Ryan did a great job! He went swimming. We took him to the water park and he really liked the slides and swim time. He did not enjoy water spraying him. We also went on the boardwalk and Ry went on several rides. We didn't think he would but he loved them. He was a true gem most of the time and we even managed to get him potty trained by the end!

Enjoy the sample of pics!

Carousel

Today we took Ry on his first carousel ride. We were at beautiful Schenley Plaza while Trav had to do a little work. So Ry and I walked over to this beautiful plaza/park. He hung out by the fountain and splashed around by it. We then went over to the carousel. First he rode a pig, next a giraffe, and then a tiger. He loved them and thought they were very fast. After that we shared a blueberry muffin and a water as we sat at an outdoor cafe table overlooking the plaza/park. Trav then joined us as Ry went on one last carousel ride. This time he choose the elephant.

Next time we will bring the camera to capture the event!

My parents visit!

My parents came and visited us July 1 for a week. We were lucky to have their company and help around the house. We had a great time whether it was when taking Ryan to his gym class, celebrating the 4th, shopping, going to the children's museum, or our wonderful boat tour. When I picked Ry up from daycare today he asked where Nana and Pop Pop were. I told him they flew back to Florida on a plane. He then said he missed them!

Busy Morning

We've had a busy morning in the Meyer house. I had Ryan paint a canvas for his playroom. I chose the colors and he went to town! I put an old work shirt of mine on him. We went down to the garage and I laid out an old tablecloth. I put the canvas on it. Next I poured the 4 colors into dishes and gave him a paintbrush. He was very controlled with his strokes. I occasionally had to turn the canvas as he'd only paint one part. He was most fond of the red (which wasn't a surprise).

Perhaps one day the painting will be worth money! For now it will hang in his playroom.

Nana & Pop Pop Visit

We are eagerly awaiting the visit of my parents. They fly in tomorrow afternoon and will be here for a week. We can't wait!

Pancake Helper

Being home for the summer is great since it allows me to make "real breakfast". Every morning I ask Ry what he wants and this morning he responded by saying "pancakes". He loves to help me in the kitchen stirring and pouring.

P.S. The pancakes turned out yummy!

Bath Time

Ryan has gone through constant bath phases where he likes the bath and then doesn't. For the past year, I dreaded giving a bath because it was such an old bath tub and I am strange like that! Since we've moved into a newer home, it's not so bad. Recently I bought Ryan bath letters. He loves them! I could put cake in front of him and he wouldn't care. All he wants to do is play with the letters. He will put them all in a line along the wall of the tub. He will sort them by colors. He will stack them up. He will play and play and play with them. With that comes him not wanting anything to do with me actually bathing him. When I try, he throws a fit. How dare I interrupt letter time! He would literally stay in there for an hour if I let him. Now, he cries when he has to come out! Time sure has changed.

It's Potty Time!

Well we've been trying to work with Ryan on going on the potty. However, due to daycare and our work schedules, we haven't been able to give it as much as we'd like. This morning he woke up (way to early) and I put him on the potty. I then decided to put him in big boy "Elmo" underwear. Well the boy stayed dry for about 6 hours as we visited the potty every 30 minutes or so. Every time he'd go he'd get an M n' M. The boy must've had about 20 today! We finially just put him in a pull up as we had errands and such to run. We'll give it another go tomorrow.
